 Encrypted hardware eliminates data leakage while protecting digital files. The device has military-grade 256-bit AES XTS encryption. In addition, the reader is FIPS 140-2 level 3 certified. It is unlocked by entering the user's PIN code via the integrated keypad. The keypad itself is hardwearing to prevent unauthorized parties from seeing commonly used codes.
 If the hard drive is stolen, the brute force anti-piracy mechanism will erase the drive after 10 consecutive PIN entry failures. The device is operating system independent and can be used on all devices with a USB port.
